Setmil Aviation (Pvt) Ltd was in incorporated in the year 2007 to facilitate the vision of the founder Mr. Arjuna Hettiarachchi. He envisaged that the company should represent all arms of the transportation sector and as a result Setmil Aviation (Pvt) Ltd was incorporated.

In March 2009, Air Asia the low cost carrier from Malaysia appointed Setmil Aviation as its General Sales Agency in Sri Lanka which revolutionised the air travel industry in Sri Lanka.
