IOH was formed in 1996 with the prime intention of providing transportation for the ship side operation and trucking of containers between the port terminals of vessels calling under another Setmil Group company, M/s. Sea Consortium Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, its freight forwarding arm Setmil United Cargo Pvt. Ltd.
IOH has now spread its wings to service other companies of Setmil Group and also offer road haulage links between ICD's / all major cities of the island and the port of Colombo. It owns a fleet of 80 + prime movers, 70 + 40’ trailers and is in the process of increasing the fleet to meet the demand of the customers.
IOH is responsible in transporting around 400,000 TEUs annually between the two container terminals in Port of Colombo, in addition to various other inland transportation activities they are involved with.
IOH is the hauler of containers between South Asia Gateway Terminals and Sri Lanka Ports Authority since 1999 to date.
The Company has its own facility to carry out any kind of repairs and services of the fleet with modern equipment and a highly qualified engineering staff. The support facility is manned 24 hours a day and it gives a great deal of confidence to the operations team in providing an uninterrupted services to customers.
IOH has earned a good reputation amongst customers over the past decade, through its professional and dependable service combined with the flexibility of arranging the required logistics at very short notice. In its operation, it has earned a reputation for dependability and consistent quality of performance. The Company has developed an island wide transportation network, which is engaged in the transportation of essential commodities.
IOH repair and storage yard covers 4.5 acres / 1.8 hectares of prime land situated at Nawalokapura Sedawatte, just 1.5 km away from the Colombo Harbour.
This Company was awarded ISO accreditation in the year 2002 by Lloyds Register of Quality Assurance, London.
